Fall Shows Are in Full Swing!
It was a quiet summer of gardening and visiting friends — and of course, making new art in the studio. Now, it’s GO time, and the shows are here!
Next up is Art on the Avenue, in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria on October 4th, and then to a new show for me, in Crozet VA, near Charlottesville. Details below:
-
It’s the 30th Anniversary of this one-day show, and it’ll be amazing! Not only over 200 artists, but lots of music, food and kids activities. 10-6.
i will be showing both jewelry and glass art at this show.
-
The 45th annual Crozet Fall Arts and Crafts Festival will feature over 125 jury-selected artists, craft demonstrations, live music, children's activities, food trucks, Virginia wine and beer, and more! I will be showing both jewelry and glass art.

October 18-19: My Favorite Show of the Fall: the Ch/Art Art Walk!
Visit 37 homes and see the work of 87 local artists! Noon to 5 on October 18-19th. Click on the image above to see the map of all the sites and artists. This is a lovely opportunity to visit with neighbors and meet local artists you didn’t even know about!
I am at stop 36, along with my husband landscape photographer Mark Leatherman.

My piece Wild Flowers is part of the epic exibition, Women Artist of the DMV , featuring over 425 artists selected from over 4,000 applications. The art is being displayed in 11 venues around the region. Wild Flowers is in the Priddy Library from September 11 through October 31st. Priddy Library is in the Universities at Shady Grove, 9636 Gudelsky Drive Rockville.
New work
Workshops
Don’t just buy glass art and jewelry from me — make your own! (I mean, DO buy from me, but don’t stop there!) In my Jewelry Workshop, you will make 2 pieces of jewelry, choosing between earrings, pendant, ring bracelet and brooch. In my Plate Workshops you will make a round or square plate or 2 sun catchers. In both workshops you will learn the many types of glass, how it behaves and melts, and how to cut and shape it.
Behind the Bench
I am grateful to be able to show and sell my work at many excellent, competitive shows. But I don’t get into every show I aspire to, and so I have upgraded my jewelry booth and glass art booth, as well as my jewelry images. Fingers crossed you’ll see me at the Smithsonian next year!
Although I always prefer being behind the bench, I’ve been in FRONT of the bench this last month, changing out my web site to a new platform. You might see a few hiccups! I’m sure it will all be for the best, but oh my goodness what a hassle.
As always, email me at harrigan@joyofglass.com if you have any questions.
