Art Heals
In times of turbulence, art might seem frivolous or unimportant compared with the weighty issues that are consuming the headlines and squeezing our hearts. But I find that art keeps me grounded and helps me express my values and find joy in a fraught world. And research shows that making art has healing effects on both emotional and physical health — which reinforces my own experience.
My art can’t change the world, but I try to do something that helps, however small. I’ve created a fundraiser for the local food bank and am also offering a free slot in each of my 4 glass workshops in November to folks who have been furloughed and are not being paid. See below!
Food Bank Fundraiser
I am doing a fundraiser for the Capital Area Food Bank. I designed earrings in the shape of the District of Columbia, with 51 cut out, representing the aspiration that DC could become the 51st state! I’m selling the earrings for $40, of which I’m donating $20 to the food bank.
